Travel to Croatia: Discovering Krka National Park
The waterfalls of Krka might just be the perfect way to end summer in Croatia.
Although Croatia can easily boast some of the world’s best beaches, locals know that some of its most relaxing places to swim aren’t along the coastline. Along the winding Krka River in Central Dalmatia, just north of Šibenik, is an expanse of lush green trees and rushing waterfalls with aquamarine pools straight out of a fantasy movie. Krka National Park might not be the first place visitors think to travel in Croatia, but we love surprising guests with this unique area. Best of all, you can jump in the pools at Krka for a perfect late-summer dip!
Somewhere between the mossy pools and encircling rock, it might be hard to believe such a place exists outside Avatar, but we can assure you that this national park is quite real! Just don’t forget your swimsuit and a good pair of shoes for hiking. Aside from wading into the refreshing waters, you can also wander the park’s shaded trails, take a scenic boat ride, or visit the medieval Krka monastery. We always love personalizing each trip to Croatia and can add Krka to any journey you choose, but recommend starting with Small Towns of Croatia and Extraordinary Dalmatian Islands. Krka is also an easy drive from Split, making it a perfect addition to journeys in Dalmatia like the Family Journey, Fun Under Dalmatian Sun or the Private Journey, Dalmatia Discovery.
